Hi all,
I tried to burn a DVD with Toast last weekend and found out that Toast does not start any more. Log message is
Cannot find executable for CFBundle 0x37a9a0 </System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskArbitration.framework> (not loaded)
and indeed, the DiskArbitration.framework folder is empty.
Can anyone confirm if this is true? I have found some posters who claim to run Toast 5 on Tiger. So ist this a local problem on my system or does Toast 5.2.3 stopped working on 10.4.5?

I still have the same Toast version and it launches fine in 10.4.5. I don't want to try to burn a disk. My DiskArbitration.framework folder is not empty.

Thank you for your quick answer.
This is strange. I have repaired permissions and re-installed the os 10.4.5 combo update. The DiskArbitration.framework folder is still empty and toast does not work.
I'll compare with my backup this evening. There I also have a clean 10.4.0 installation. If your folder is not empty, I should find the missing files somewhere.

Problem is solved:
The /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskArbitration.framework should only be a link to /System/Frameworks/DiskArbitration.framework. On my system it was an empty folder.
I guess that happened when a ccc backup did not work. CCC sets darwin links at the end of the backup process and this failed a while ago.
I have manually restored the link and now everything works fine again.
Thanks again .

I just started having this problem, even though I upgraded to Mac OS 10.4.5 some time ago. When I do a:
jnorriseMac:/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskArbitration.framework>ls -lFR
total 8
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 40 Mar 11 15:31 DiskArbitration_profile@ -> Versions/Current/DiskArbitration_profile
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Dec 5 2002 Versions/
./Versions:
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Dec 5 2002 A/
./Versions/A:
total 72
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 35916 Dec 5 2002 DiskArbitration_profile*
my /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskArbitration.framework is not an empty directory even though I seem to be getting the same sort of error message from my console.log:
Toast Titanium[240] CFLog (21): Cannot find executable for CFBundle 0x341480 </System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskArbitration.framework> (not loaded
This is operating a little out of my general comfort zone, so if anyone has a suggestion, please assume I know how to open a terminal window and not too much more, ok? :-)
Thanks!

People,
I was able to copy the entire DiskArbitration.framework directory from an external drive on the same computer and get things working, so don't take any effort to reply.
Thanks in any case - I probably wouldn't have been to fix the problem without reading this thread.
Have a care,
James Norris
