I've been having some trouble converting a few .mpg files to use with my 5G iPod. It's a common problem: video converts over but without audio elements of the file. I've tried this with QT Pro, MoviesForMyPod, and iSquint. None of them carry over the audio portion.
I did the requisite search on this forum and the internet and learned that it has something to do with "muxed" audio and video aspects of the .mpg file. It seems that there are a few programs that will do the conversion even with the muxed files: ffmpegx and (from what I read) Podner. I DLed ffmpegx and tried to convert. The program gives about 15 conversion options, none of which I understand as iPod-compatible. Podner costs $10 (I'm cheap right now).
So, can anyone recommend the program that will do the conversion for free? Alternately, a tip on which file format (of all the options available in the program) is the one to use when exporting the file from ffmpegx would be fine, as well.
Thanks in advance. This forum community is the bomb.
