I just used Mac the ripper to rip a DVD movies, however there are numerous files. I assumed there would be one file and that file would be burned to DVD and I would have the movie. How does this work? Why the numerous files?

Application questions go in the Applications forum. What about Mac The Ripper is iMac specific? Please pay more attention before you start your next new thread and make sure it's in the right forum.

I could tell. And that's why I moved the thread instead of locking it. Just be more careful next time.

its because dvds are built around chapters and titles and such-like...

What you're seeing is actually the way the DVD is setup. A DVD is not just all one file, and as threestain said, this lets you jump between chapters. If you wanted a straight copy of the DVD, I believe you could burn this straight to a DVD and it would work. But I bet you would need a dual-layer disc to do it. If you want to keep these all as one file you have two options. You could use Disk Utility to create a disk image. But most people use a program like Hand Brake to compress the files into a video file that can be played with Quick Time. It all depends on what your needs are, but I think the best place for you to start is to check out Hand Brake.

OK, I have converted the files that play the movie into 4 .mp4 files. Can I transfer those files and burn to DVD so I have one continous movie?

Is there a Universal Binary of MacTheRipper (or any other DVD extraction tool) yet?
