Hi,
I recently got one of those USB Flash drive+MP3 Player combos after my last USB Flash drive suddenly stopped working. However, for some bizarre reason the device only reads ID3 tag information embedded in my MP3 files if the format is not ID3v2.2. It works perfectly fine when I use iTunes to convert the tag format to ID3v2.3 or 2.4, even 1.0 and 1.1 -- just not ID3v2.2. However, it appears by that iTunes selects ID3v2.2 by default for new imports. I would like to know if it is possible to have iTunes default to another ID3 tag format for new imports/encodings?? Any hidden prefs to accomplish this short of having to manually reformat the ID3 tags of everything I import into iTunes??

Thanks

Just a hunch: I doubt it's incompatible with ID3 2.2.

Instead, I propose that something about the way iTunes saves initially is the problem -- perhaps the default text encoding, for example. My hunch is that using the "Convert ID3 Tags" command to convert from version 2.2 to version 2.2 would fix the problem just as much as using any other ID3 version.

That said, I'm not sure what a solution would be

Yeh strange....You me be right. I just added some MP3's I got from the 'net which were pre-encoded ID3 2.2 and it recognized them. Yet others I get from 'net also were un-recognized. More investigation needed.....
