Downloading a playlist to burn a CD and I keep getting an error message that says "medium write error". The CD ejects and I find about half the songs aren't burned. Can't seem to find anything in preferences or help that addresses this.

Sounds like you've got bad blank media. Try another brand. Verbatim CDs and DVDs have worked well for me. You will still get some bad ones on occasion.
