So I've tried what my experience will allow to resolve the following. Originally I was importing
some songs from CD to the iTunes library and some way or another 10 of the 12 songs didn't get
imported properly, when I clicked on the titles in the Library playlist, got a window saying file
could not be found. So I ultimately deleted all those songs from this particular CD from the iTunes Library. When I import songs from CDs I have them stored on an external firewire drive.
This is where all songs in the Library are sourced from in iTunes. BTW, I'm running iTunes 6.0.1.
As most of you probably know, as I import songs by various artists a individual folder is created
on the firewire drive containing those titles. The folder that was created for the artist that I had
trouble importing of course has a folder on the drive. When I go to the firewire drive and try to
move the folder to the trash. I'm asked if I'm sure I want to delete the folder. I click yes, then I get
a window that says "the operation cannot" be completed because the item is in use". In use where? I deleted I thought all the titles from the Library. So why can't I get rid of this folder from
the firewire drive? Also anyway in iTunes to have all those individual artists folders consolidated into one "iTunes" folder on the firewire drive. I've unchecked the preference pane in iTunes where
you can select how you want files/folders organized. I'm still getting individual folders created
as I import music from CD. Sorry to ramble. Any thoughts appreciated.
