Leaving Thunderbird running seems to prevent my G5 from going to sleep on it's own (due to no action on the keyboard or mouse for a specified time). Short of quitting Thunderbird every time I step away from the Mac, does anyone know a fix/workaround for this?
Apple Mail can be left open and the system sleeps fine but I don't really want to go back to Mail...
I had the same problem. I had set up TBird 1.5 so that it checked for mail automatically every 10 minutes. I set the sleep time to 15 minutes. It never went to sleep. Apparently when it checks, something in the system resets the inactivity timer for the sleep timer.
I set the mail check time to 30 minutes and the sleep time to 15 minutes and it always goes to sleep as scheduled.
