I recently got a Canon PowerShot SD450 and got a 2GB memory stick for it. I've loaded it up with movies that I took with the SD450 but am having a hell of a time getting iPhoto to pull the movies off the camera. The camera is recognized fine and iPhoto will pull pictures off, no problem. The Canon software seems to download the movies without issue, but I'd much rather use iPhoto, if possible.
Anyone aware of any limitations with iPhoto in that regard? Clip size or something?
The three movie clips I took (and was able to copy off using the Canon software) are:
1) 557.5MB/30FPS/320x240
2) 1,023.9MB/30FPS/320x240
3) 352.7MB/30FPS/320x240
Running 10.4.5 on a 1.5Ghz 17" PBG4 1.5GB RAM

Have you tried using Image Capture to get the movie files off the memory card? You could then add them to the iPhoto library afterwards.

No, I haven't, but I can do the same thing with the Canon software... I'd like to avoid using a bunch of different applications, if possible.

I don't think iphoto can remove video files from cameras. If it can, I haven't figured out how with any of the many canon cameras I have tried it with.

iPhoto can remove video files from cameras just fine, but it appears to have trouble as the file gets larger in size. I haven't found the magic number yet, but it appears to be fine with anything up to a couple hundred MB so far, but anything larger (500+, I believe) it will not import, but it will go through the motions as though it's importing it (har drive grinding away, import staus bar winding up, etc), but when iPhoto is finished doing what it's doing, the video is nowhere to be found
