I migrated my Apple Mail from my PowerMac G5 to my new MacBook Pro. I have five POP accounts configured. Four out of five are working just fine. One account never retrieves mail, although other clients (and Web Mail) show there there are messages in that account.

The account that fails to retrieve mail is on an Exchange server, if that matters.

Any ideas

Thanks,

John

Maybe you'd be better off using MS Entourage if it's on an Exchange server? Other than that I don't know I'm afraid.

I've used Entourage in the past, but I prefer Mail. Apple Mail works fine to pull mail from this Exchange server (using POP) on my G5 PowerMac. I'm not sure if this is an Intel Mac specific thing, or just some problem I created moving the configuration over.

Are you getting any kind of error message or is it simply not downloading the messages? Have you double-checked the account information? I've had difficulties with my accounts in the past because I forgot to change the port, activate SSL, or select the correct authentication process.

You nailed it.

I have access to the server, so I turned up the level of logging, and determined that my client was attempting a connection with the wrong authentication type. It was set to NTLM. Once I set it back to password, it worked fine.

I never received any error message on the client.
