I just bought a Microsoft Notebook 3000 mouse (I just couldn't find a mouse that looked good and would work on XP as well, and I'm weak for Limited Editions)...

Anyway, I'm having a bit of trouble with the Intellipoint drivers. There is no way to release control of the scroll wheel and scroll tilt, as you can with the other buttons. What this means is that the scroll wheel scrolls with a "Microsoft feel". I'm serious here, it feels like XP and I don't like it (even the mouse tracking now feels like XP, but I can live with that).

The reason I used their drivers at all was that the third and fourth mouse buttons (as reported by OS X) refused to map properly to expose.

So, is there an application for OS X which lists mouse buttons and will let me map them to different keys, shortcuts or functions?

USB Overdrive, SteerMouse, and possibly Gamepad Companion. I don't feel like looking up links, but they're easy to find.

That's cool. Now I just need to figure out how to uninstall the Microsoft drivers.

Also, again, god damn shareware frenzy on the OS X. Why can't any app I need be freeware?

I have been using SteerMouse with my new Logitech mouse, and I like it quite a bit. I didn't care much for USB Overdrive when I tried it out for a day.
