'm in the unenviable position of needing to run IE on my i-Mac (OS X 10.4.5) for work. I downloaded the latest IE version for Mac (5.2.3), but it doesn't load, i.e., I get the beach ball of death. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Why do you need IE exactly? Do you have admin rights on your work machine?

It might be the default homepage that is the issue. See if you can change that without opening the program. I seem to remember that being an issue for me, but I do agree with rickey, why IE?!?!?!?

IE still loads for me on a 12" PB under 10.4.6 (perhaps you've got a corrupt download?)

It's terminally slow and way out of compliance--front page of the NYtimes.com looks terrible. Any way you can use Firefox and tell the User Agent to simulate IE 6.0 for Windows?

better yet, enable the safari debug menu, and spoof IE from there.

put:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
into Terminal while Safari is closed. You'll now get a debug menu in Safari, which has an option to switch the user agent.
