Best Virtual PC version for G4?

I know that Virtual PC 2004 was revised significantly to work with the G5 processor, because the G5 dropped support for a specific feature of the earlier G4 that Virtual PC 6 relied upon.

Anyway, I now need Virtual PC for the first time and it is for an iBook G4 (1.33) and I'm curious how the G4 performance compares between the current version of VPC and the previous version which was optimized for the G4? Is VPC 2004 faster/better even on a G4, or should I track down a previous version and use it instead?

Thanks

The latest version of VPC is version 7, and this is the fastest version, hence you should use this. I use VPC7 on my iBook (1.2), and yes its slow, but I get ono with it (I only use it to access my schools novel network)

VPC 7 is probably the best... providing it works properly. I had it installed on my Mini and it would work fine until you come to shut it down (after using it for a while), then it would cause a kernel panic on OS X, every time.

The second question you would want to ask is which Windows version to use in Virtual PC. Most people will suggest to use Win2K - it will run much faster in VPC than XP. Install XP only if Windows software you need to run requires XP.

VPC 2004 is the Windows version. On the Mac it's always been version 6 or 7, etc.
