I've got a newer Mac Mini with Front Row, and I've been enjoying watching videos from across the room. However, I've found that Front Row crashes on a lot of my movies, but VLC has almost no problems with them. When I use VLC, though, I have no control over the playback and volume using the Front Row remote--is there any way to change that?
I guess my ideal solution would allow me to map a keystroke command to the each FR remote's button and then re-route the commands to a specific program (VLC in this case) instead of Front Row. Does anyone know of such a thing? Does anyone have the skills to make it happen? I know that MediaCentral can steal Front Row remote control comands from the system, but it also crashes a lot.
