I use NeoOffice.org(OpenOffice.org port for the Mac) for all my office stuff.

NeoOffice or OpenOffice.org - free Open Source MS Office clones. Translation of PPT files is not going to be perfect, but it isn't bad either. Transitions can be slow though.
