Mods: I think this a "software" issue... but you may disagree. It's about how software registration/pmt policies affect users
Maybe this is not annoying to anyone else, but when i looked at the "Snail Mail" as recently headlined by MacNN (and there called "freeware")...
There's all this stuff to wade through about "why require registration for a free product"... and talking about "no we'll never go commercial or even share-ware"...
But clicking on the links to NIXANZ they starting talking about "Contact - Bug Reporting or License "payments"...
"All listed applications are available under the UNDER-Ware license which allows the user to decide how much they want to pay (be it with money or some other form of payment - please read the license)."
Excuse me... is it both "freeware" and software for which I "decide how much (I) want to pay."
argggggg
I'd rather be told to pay... or just given a DONATE option. ... I'd rather know that I can just download the sukka and check it out (or not) than have to wade through their games to figure out exactly how/what I'm going to be hit on.
As it is I feel jerked around, not given the STRAIGHT-up at the top (e.g., will I be able to test drive it for XX days before being asked to "donate", etc.).
Am I the only one who finds such circuitous tactics annoying. If not, please post YOUR reactions here for benefit of the geniuses who have discovered this new marketing strategy.
Sorry for rant. Probably should have had my morning java before browsing forums.
