subtitle problems in iMovie

	i'm trying to add subtitles in iMovie but it is not working. when i open a new project i select mp4 quality, than i import a .mov (2,5 Mb) file and drag it to the time line. When i click the text option and then subtitle menu i write the text but it doesn't drag and drop to the timeline, and the option "update" under preview is not avaiable (it gets a light gray color). I'm doing something wrong? I'm new with macs and with imovie. ibook g4 14"/1.42Ghz/512ram/60GB sorry about my english, i'm from brazil
