Hello,

Has anybody struggled with getting SMS messaging working in these apps, and eventually found a fix?

In iChat, the error message is "this person is currently not online". In Address Book, it says that I've paired successfully with my Bluetooth Motorola phone, but then the SMS Message option is grayed out in the contextual menu belonging to the mobile phone field.

It would be kind of nice to get this working...

I didn't even know you could send SMS from iChat.

A very basic question: you do have clicked the bluetooth button in Address Book to connect it to your phone before trying to send an SMS?

For me, AB works for sending SMS about half the time. The big trouble is that you get no error message when it fails to send. Receiving always works, though.

iChat SMS worked first time I tried it. Make sure to include the + and the country code in front of the mobile phone number you're messaging.

The address book didn't work for me initially because Apple didn't include my phone in the configuration files in Address Book even though they had included the drivers in iSync. I found instructions on the web (mobile.feiser.com I think) that showed me how to modify the package contents within the Address Book bundle so that my phone was recognized. Once I made that change - all was working.

I did notice that on one of my computers, that configuration file that I had to edit had gotten corrupted in some way as well - so I fixed that while I was mucking about with it.

Sending SMS from the Address Book worked fine with my SE K700i but my Motorola V3x broke it. I don't think Motorola's are fully supported since I had to use a plugin to get mine to work with iSync and this may be why sending SMS's doesn't work.

What Plugin did you use, and where did you get it from?
