i normally use firefox to browse the web but ive decided to use safari since it is native to os x, and firefox has an annoying habit of freezing occasionally. but ive been having some problems. safari won't display deviantart at all, it says there is some error, but firefox displays it fine. also, safari doesnt display gmail correctly. the contact list on the side doesnt show at all, there is only a link to the contacts. is there some update i missed? software update doesn't show anything. are there any plugins, addons, additions, mods, hacks, crazies that i can download to fix this?

Safari isn't being wierd, it just can't display html correctly.

Try Camino. It seems to render a bit better than Safari and it is fast as well...

Well, what are you running, OS X 10.4.6? The latest version of Safari is 2.0.3 (417.9.2).

I can't speak for Gmail, but DeviantArt works perfectly in Safari. Safari can render HTML just fine, thank you. But websites are becoming increasingly complicated and with a site like Gmail it's not surprising there would be problems. I suggest searching these forums for discussion about Gmail and maybe you'll find other Safari users with problems (if, indeed, it's not limited to just your install of OS X/Safari).
