I have a G4 Quicksilver with a 1.8 GHz upgrade, 1.5 Gig RAM and about a Terabyte of HDD space. My problem is that iTunes, when running, uses between 20% and 45% of my CPU time. I tried everything I can think of, such as truning of the ITMS, and the EQ and any audio modifiers.
Any help in this area would be much Appreciated!

How is iTunes displayed? The scrolling text field with the song title and artist and stuff can take a bit of CPU. Have you tried the mini size? (Hit the zoom button and then resize it to be as small as possible.)

It doesn't matter what I do to the window or to the prefs. Even minimised with out it playing it's still taking the same range of CPU time.

Do you have any plugins installed? Check ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins.
