Thats right. I'm looking for a browser that runs on OS X that will let me turn off CSS completely. Totally ignore it. Let me know if you know of one.

Why? Its complicated, and has to do with myspace.

Try downloading an old browser? Netscape 3 or 4? Mosaic? An old iCab?
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

The Web Developer extension for Firefox lets you do that.

cool ill check out the firefox thing. The old netscapes won't work because they won't run on OS X, and because they do support CSS just really badly, so pages would be all messed up and I'd be in the exact same boat i'm in now, trying to get normal styleless pages

Yes, iCab lets you do it so, newest versions included.

Just go to Preferences… clic on 'Web Content' --> "Style Sheets"

and uncheck 'Enable Style Sheets'

I think the Page Style feature under Firefox's View menu should work too: simply select "No Style" and see if that quashes the CSS stuff. If it does, you're gold; if not, go with the web developer extension.

Firefox's page style item strips more than just the CSS. It strips lots of basic things like normal html page background color. So thats out. Firefox's web dev extension is out too. Reason being, it lets you turn off CSS but only on a page by page basis, and only after the page loads. The idea is to avoid ever loading the CSS, with that you have to load it, then turn it off for each page and it reloads. I'll check out icab later

Do you just want to block the MySpace CSS eyesores? I don't blame you. Check out these greasemonkey scripts:

Someone should make a browser that has an automatic MySpace Mode which turns off CSS and embedded content whenever you surf onto myspace. That would be like penicillin for the internet.

Here you go…
http://www.icab.de/filtermanager.html

I am not a myspace.com user myself, but there you can find a tutorial to filter with iCab browser any content from a site you would like to do it so.

Link to 'how to' here:

I tried doing it in iCab. Problem is iCab is as slow as dirt. Its faster to have safari load the full page than to have icab sit there and load the page, even without CSS, one item at a time. Its like using netscape on a 68K mac.
