I am running an iBook with OS X 10.2.8 and i cannot install any applications in the .dmg format?
the disk copy application icon looks like the appleworks icon and the application will not open, i tried the applications folder,the home folder and droping the .dmg file onto the installer nothing works? the Disk image does NOT mount on the desktop, and nothing shows in finder as another disk. also .smi files will not mount???does anyone know how to fix this?

When you double-click on a .dmg file it opens a 'disk image'. The contents of the disk image will appear with your other disk drives.

So, you should see it in the upper right corner of the desktop with your other drives, or in the list of disks when your select "Go->Computer" in the FInder.

(Dropping a .dmg on the Installer app will definitely not do anything.)
