Right im at the end of my tether now.
I am looking for an e-mail client for both Windows and Mac that allows me to specify that i want to store my e-mails on another computer so that I can access them from both my Mac, and my Windows, and see all my e-mails that I have.
The computers in question :-
Windows 2000 Server - where I want to store the emails
MacBook Pro - Need a client to access emails stored on Server
Windows XP - Need a client to access emails stored on the Server.
Obviously I am going to need the same client on both the Mac and XP machines. That is where I am struggling big time. I have tried Entourage and Outlook, Outlook lets you do it , i have done it for years that way, but Entourage for Mac has no such option.
Thunderbird - couldnt get that to work at all even tho there is some options for email storage in the options, but that would not work.
So basically im at the end of the line for ideas. I really need this sorting so I can access my e-mails using a proper email client on my Mac.
I access my email account using POP3. All i need is the ability to store any emails coming through the same account on my server and be able to access them from both Mac and Windows using a client.! PLEASE HELP!!

Why not choose "Leave messages on server" in your POP3 settings?
Or use IMAP instead of POP3? This is an even better solution.

Cause leaving messages on server isnt really any good as it would eat away my inbox space at my hosting place.
Exchange on my Win2k server has been suggested. Think I'll give that whirl,

Why not keep the email client on the winXP box and use Remote Desk Protocol (RDP) from the Mac to view email? Exchange is painful. =)

Run an IMAP server locally and move your incoming emails to it.

I think the leave on inbox option is the best in this case, or remote desktop. From time to time u can erase those mails from the server.

I have several suggestions, some the same as others:
1. Have all messages forward to a Gmail account. Use that when you're at your 'away' computer.
2. Get a Gmail account, set up the POP access to it, and select 'leave mail on server'. You will not run out of space for a long, long time.
3. Get an IMAP account from someplace decent like http://fastmail.fm ($15/year for 600MB of space with full IMAP access).
4. As zro suggested, run an IMAP server on the Mac. Postfix Enabler makes that surprisingly easy.
5. As a last resort, use RDP to access the PC, or VNC to access the Mac. I do this from my Palm Treo when I don't want to download emails directly to the device, and it works great.
