Does anyone know of a utility that will automatically copy the contents of a DATA CD/DVD to the hard drive for OS X when the CD/DVD is inserted into the optical drive . I know iTunes and others can do this for audio CDs but I want to do it with data.

Any ideas?

Well sorry, it seems that u are right. Disk utility doesn't automatically copies the data from the disk, though I think an option like this is stupid. Anyways u can create a script that does this.
What good would it be if it copies the files from a DVD? The DVD files can be used only if they are in a image, and images is what disk utility can do.

Artanis - thanks for taking the time to reply. I want the automatic process because I have about 200 data CDs and DVDs that I want to get off of perishable CDR and DVDRs. When you autorip CDs to, for example, iTunes the process is extremely fast - load the CD in, it rips it automatically and spits it out and waits for you to load a new one. I want something like this for data only. I guess that it would be applescriptable but my skills aren't good enough so I am looking for a little app that does it.

Anyone know of anything?
