I hope someone can help me. I'm looking for the optimal setup for Mail.app using a .Mac account and a slow line here in Lebanon. (High latency, slow speed, the usual.) We're all familiar by now with the complains of Mail.app over IMAP. It's slow. So I'm looking to speed up my performance and keep my bandwidth use down. Here's my setup:

1. I'm using spamsieve to filter mail.
2. I'm storing all copies of email online: Sent messages (a must), drafts, junk and deleted messages. I have junk set to delete after a day and trash when quitting.
3. I have it set to only keep copies on my hard drive of mail I've read.

So my question is: What should settings on my .mac account be in Mail? (I'm using as an IMAP server.) I'd like to keep my bandwidth use as low as possible while speeding up the performance as much as possible. i know there are limits to what you can do on a slow line with this stuff, but I really have to use IMAP.

Anyone who knows about IMAP settings is most welcome to respond. I'd be grateful, thanks.
