On a Macbook (Intel). I researched and found that flip4mac does not work. What is Rosetta and how can I use that to play all the WMP files I've accumulated over the years?

I was thinking of installing bootcamp and Windows XP, but I don't really want to take up all the hard drive space just to play WMP files and a few other things.


As you can tell, I'm on my first mac. But lovin' it.

Oh, what about Parallels? Does that require installing Windows XP as well?

Flip4Mac will have an Intel version some time in the future. For the time being you can use PopWire or VLC media player.

As I understand it, you select QuickTime Player, hit command-i (or right click to Get Info), and check some checkbox that says something along the lines of "open this app in Rosetta." (I don't have an intel mac to try it on)

Rosetta is the software which translates PowerPC instructions into Intel instructions so that old applications which are not universal yet (i.e recompiled for Intel) can still be used...
