I have a PB 1.67 15" with 1.5 GB RAM , 160 HD SEAGATE new hard drive which I use for my work primary notebook.
I was wondering if I switch to MB or MBP would Office run faster or the same with my curent notebook ?.
I had read some stories about rosseta and office and it seems that it is the same speed compared to my PB .
Does anyone of you uses this ?..E.g make complex world documents with lot of pictures (e.g. 6-7 MB large ).

Thanks for the help.

About the same.

Office runs noticeably faster on my MBP, but I upgraded from a 1GHz Ti PB.

Can't wait to see how fast Office runs as a UB!!!

Microsoft Office 2004 running under Rosetta works fine under normal conditions, until you insert large jpegs (in actual size - megabytes in size) where it becomes completely unusable and laggy. This link demonstrates what I am saying under "Microsoft Office Graphics". http://www.mactech.com/articles/mact...2004Benchmark/ In fact, with large jpegs in the document, running Microsoft Office 2003 or Microsoft Office 2007 Beta in Windows under Parallels virtualization is better than running Microsoft Office 2004 under Rosetta in Mac OS X. By the way, this is from my experience running a Apple MacBook Pro 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM. When I upgraded to 2GB RAM, it was slightly better but not significantly. Also, if you have 1GB RAM or below, don't even bother running Word (with the large jpegs) and Photoshop CS2 together because it is a completely frustrating experience. This is just my opinion.

I've been using Word on a regular basis since buying my intel iMac in Feburary. Let me tell you, it runs perfectly and MUCH faster than on my 867mhz PB.
