I have a 1.5Ghz powerbook running OS X 10.3.9. If I upgrade to Tiger, will Safari load webpages faster?

Thanks for helping a rookie out.

It is significantly faster, and will be faster still in 10.5 (as you can see by getting the nightly builds).

I noticed significant improvements on my 1.25ghz Mini. 10.4 ran much faster in general.

Yes, Safari is MUCH faster on 10.4 than 10.3. It's really noticeable on my iBook. I was really amazed when I installed 10.4...

When 10.4 first came out everyone commented on how much faster Safari is. I have to agree with them.

Safari itself isn't much faster in Tiger (2.0) as compared to Panther (1.3). This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, given that they have the same codebase. However, the underlying system that supports Safari is greatly improved, to the point where Safari -along with just about everything else- benefits significantly.

In the end, I suppose it doesn't matter where the speed boost is, as long as there's a visible boost (which there is). But I figured I'd point it out in the interest of being accurate.
