Hi all,

Just finished doing a clean install of OS 9.2.2 on my Mom's old iMac. I'm looking for all the best freeware/shareware apps, utilities, etc. I've already got Acrobat Reader and Graphic Converter, any other suggestions? I'm looking mainly for maintenance, everyday useful things, etc., no games or hardcore apps needed. Thanks for your input.

Unfortunately the Info-Mac Archive is dead, but there are still some mirrors of it up. If you can find one, the Info-Mac Archive was a great source for shareware for the old Mac OS.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Taskmenubar or Behierarchic (or both)
iCab
CopyPaste (multiple clipboards)
Audion (free)
AppleErrorCodes98
BBedit Lite
Tomeviewer (extract files from system cd's)
Anarchie or Transmit (ftp)
ExtensionOverload
Filebuddy
Filetyper or Typeschange
Nisus Writer ( Lite?)
Toast Lite

-That's all I can think of right now, some might cost money...I don't remember.

Please keep in mind the ambiguously selective general understandings we've all agreed upon...

Glider Pro! The authors freeware'd it a year or so ago. Still one of the best games ever.

1. The OP specifically said no games

2. Weren't you one of the people that were ridiculing me for wanting to have Classic support to play old games? Yes, I know there's a version of Glider Pro for OS X, but it really sucks and doesn't include the house editor.

1. I missed the "no games." So sue me.

2. No. I know you have some irrational hatred for me, but since I myself maintain a Classic installation for old games (like Glider 4), I highly doubt that I would have ridiculed you for something like that.

Okay, my apologies then, my memory must be faulty. I do remember that it was like me vs. the rest of the forum with a lot of the names I recognize piling on me and yelling, "any apps that old aren't worth using, and any games that old I wouldn't want to play!" I probably got a few names mixed around.

BTW, how did you get Glider 4 to work in Classic? I tried that before, and couldn't get the sound to work.

Last time I tried the sound didn't work for me either. It's been a while since I fired it up though.
