Adium keeps crashing on new MacBook

My buddy just converted from the world of windoze with a new MacBook. She installed Adium on it, and for some reason we cannot keep it running. It crashes often, usually when a message is sent or received. We've repaired permissions, we've reinstalled, I've deleted all the plug-in files. I know this is rather vague, but I'm out of ideas!

Do you have Speach turned on? if so turning that off may help, if it doesn't could you post a console log of when it crashes?
