I have just purchased and installed Logic Pro 7.2. Everything is great except for 1 thing; anytime I play Midi instruments (EXS24, Sculpture etc.) there is latency. It is so bad that I can't play to record anything. I'm not talking about a small delay either, this is 400-500ms!

This happends with and external USB keyboard, Midi keyboard going thru a midi inteface but EVEN with Logic's screen keyboad (caps lock keyboad).

I never had that problem with Digital Performer so I figure I just don't know where and how to adjust that.

Please help!

for a start EXS24, Sculpture etc. are NOT midi instruments they are Virtual Instruments. (software replications of real MIDI hardware instruments.

Sounds like your CoreAudio Driver buffer is set to high. Set it to 128 samples.

Id suggest other more appropriate forums, you'd be wasting your time here.

They are not midi instruments but they respond to Midi input. How else would you play a software instrument?

Thanks for the links but why would you even start a post with a statement like that? You figure a guy with 48 posts must be a newb so "I'll give him a definition of a virtual instrument!"

seventn- to be fair i take absolutely ZERO notice of anyones post count, not even my own although many other ppl sadly do and treat or conclude any one with low post count as newbies, i certainly don't. Regardless, my point still stands, anyone who has dealt with MIDI for more than 5 years will instantly think of a "MIDI Instrument" as a hardware device NOT a piece of software which is known as a Virtual Instrument. FYI some Virtual Instruments simulated from classic synths or drum machines actually never had MIDI.

It was also nice of you to say "thank you" for the more useful links i provided :-(
