Is it possible? The installer tells me that i my powerbook doesn't meet the hardware requirements. I remember there was a work around or hack that fooled aperture into thinking the computer was good enough.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can extract it using Pacifist (from CharlesSoft[ sp?])
If you can run it after that, well, hooray! Otherwise, you may have to surf some less than savory sites looking for the NoCPU krack.

Actually you'll have to do both and I think everyone would agree that it's okay to do if you own the application.

IIRC, your main problem will be the screen res is too low for Aperture, it will fail to launch...

You can do it, just requires editing one of the .plist files inside of the .app package. It simply lists the minimum screen size, which can be changed.
It's not "super easy" to get it working - since there are a few separate things to do before it will work.

It's going to run like a total piece of crap, though. Next thing I'll hear is a performance complaint, lol.

i agree that it will be sluggish, but i can live with that for a while before i upgrade anyway.
i had the option to buy it off a mate cheap-ish or wait and pay too much for it when i get a MBP.
Anyone know where i can get the noCPU file?

Hello.
Yes, it is possible. I'm doing it. I have a 15" 1.0 GHz AlPbook running Aperture 1.1. It's really frustrating to buy a piece of software and not have it run for an arbitrary reason.
I used Pacifist to install it without using the apple installer, and then you need to edit the hex codes of aperture to get it to run, which means you'll need a hex editor. I used Hex Fiend. (Both are free)
From what i remember, i didn't have much luck editing the plist file. At least that wasn't all i had to do.
After you've got it installed, do a search for a forum (i forget which) where people posted the hex codes for the various versions of aperture. Right click on Aperture > Show Package Contents > Contents > MacOS > open Aperture in Hex Fiend. I believe there are two sets of hex codes you need to change. One for CPU and the other for RAM (unless you already meet that req.)
From my experience, Aperture is really not that bad on a 1.0 ghz machine. Granted I'm not dealing with RAW photos. I'm working with JPEGs. However, it does run, and isn't that bad on the 15" screen either. Aperture does a very nice job of handling a second monitor too.
Good luck!
