Recently I have come across several movies that have wm.avi as the extention. I can't figure out a way to get these to play on Quicktime or anything else so far.

I think there used to be an app. that allowed you to convert these into .asf files that could be read with Quicktime. something like wmserver or ???? Any help would be appreciated.

Micro.

searching for .avi or codec here will find many threads related to this subject.
Allow me to summarize.
Download codec from divx.com, download flip4mac, download VLC.
Sit back and enjoy.

(there are still a few files this won't help with though)

Speaking of which, does anyone know if Flip4Mac can play wmv3-in-AVI yet?

Edit: to the OP, yes there is an application called WMV3Server which you can use to play the wmv3+MP3-in-AVI with. The way it works is that it extracts the data-files from the AVI (it dumps them in your home directory, btw), makes a temp file pointing to them and launches that in WMP for Mac. (This is because WMP for Mac can play the wmv3+MP3 combo, but doesn't read AVI-files.)

If you've got the "pro" (or whatever it's called) version of F4M you can encode the video to something else.
