This is not only a problem for me, but there in fact are three other threads here that have the same problem and no one has addressed them:

iTunes always connects to the Music Store immediately upon launch, and whenever it connects, iTunes Crashes. I installed a demo of Little Snitch and blocked the connection to that server. In this case iTunes does NOT crash. This has happened with the last several versions of iTunes and OS X 10.4, and currently does crash on 10.4.7 with iTunes 6.0.5. The code generated from the Apple Error Report is Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00706d7c. This happens both with the existing iTunes library/files, and when I delete that folder and make it create a new one.
Since there are at least 5 people here with this problem that reported it, I know we all would like to figure out what's causing this. I've checked permissions on the library files and all seem fine. Further, my wife uses this library and same copy of iTunes on this same machine on another account with no problems. Any ideas?
