I have some music on my laptop hard drive, and some on an external that is only sometimes plugged in. At the moment it's all in one library, so when I click on something without the hd plugged in, I get 'can't be found'.
I want to create a smart playlist (I think) to sort by location, but don't know how to do this. I know about the apple script, and Libra, to swap in and out multiple libraries, but don't want to do this.
Thanks,
Peeb

I though there was a field for "file path", but there's not.

But here's a kludgey workaround: use one of the rarely-used fields, like Comment, to put in an identifier for the tracks on the external disk. Then make a smart playlist to look for the tracks with and without that identifying comment.

Wow. Thanks - I can't believe I'm the only one who wants to do this though...
