Firefox 'default' email program: change to thunderbird?

Ive changed from Mozilla to Firefox. my mozilla defualts to thunderbird as my email program which I want, but firefox defualts back to MacMail, which I do not want

how can i change this?

You can change the default mail application in the general preferences of Mail. You might also be able to change it in the preferences of Thunderbird, but I don't use that mail-client, so I don't know.
