firefox and automatic log on not consistent

ive switched from Mozilla to firefox, as FFox is much faster

however firfox does not consistenly remember to auto log in on many sites.

am I doing somthing wrong? sometimes it does, but sometimes I have to log on as I had to at MacNN just now.

any help greatly appreciated.
