See if you can borrow an external hard drive - I have a VST Firewire drive. Just transfer the files from your PC to the drive, then into a folder on your Mac...then import the songs into iTunes...That's what I did.

You have a PowerBook, which is portable, so.............. go buy a short ethernet cable and plug it in, turn on file sharing on the PC and copy away. Cheap and easy! This is the best way to connect two computers for file transfer.

OR if you already have a network (wireless or otherwise) and both computers are connected to it, then you're already set up.

BTW there's no reason whatsoever to have to burn the files to CD as audio tracks, you could just put the music files on the CD.

Funny you should ask... I'm in the middle of doing that just now... copying my "iTunes" directory from CDocuments and Settings\username\My Music on my PC notebook to /Users/username/Music on my new MacBook, via wireless. It's a lot slower than when I did it from my desktop PC to my new Mac Mini through a Gigabit Ethernet switch, but it will eventually transfer... and all the playlists, etc come through fine as well.

As said, you could do it with a "crossover" ethernet cable as well.

kk so i plugged in the ethernet cable, and its not recognizing the my power book. i cant use a crossover because my pc does not have that plugin. do i have to do the setup wizard? this might be why but my computer does not have an internet connection. will the ethernet still work?

this iS SO FRUSTRATING!

OK.

1. Calm Down

2. You can use a crossover cable - both plugs are identical, so i dont know why you say you cant.

3. On the mac go to System Preferences/Sharing -> then turn on Windows Sharing

4. On the PC, browse to My Network Computers (or its View Workgroup Computers, on the left somewhere)

You should see your Mac, you can the browse the files (once you enter your mac username/password)
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

Better than that-ask in the Applications forum-where ALL application-specific questions go.

And since these music files are identical no matter what platform you play them on, just moving the files is all you need to do.

Hey guys, quick question.

If i were to plug in a normal ethernet cable to my PC laptop and the same ethernet cable on the other end of my Mac laptop, would it function the same way as a crossover cable?
