Am I crazy or does the online .Mac email kind of suck?

I recently switched back to Mac - something that I have been dying to do for a long time, and I have no complaints...well, almost no complaints...
I set up a .Mac account and found that the online Mail interface is severely lacking - I find it inferior even to much older versions of other email platforms (hotmail, yahoo etc) and far inferior to Gmail.
Two examples: (1) .Mac doesn't automatically save a copy of a sent email in your sent folder and (2) When you Replay All to an email that includes several email addresses- .Mac often cannot recognize one or more of the email addresses.
My question: Does anyone know if Mac is planning to update their .Mac Mail system to bring it up to the level of their competitors?
I love my iMac but this inferior email platform is infuriating.
Thanks
iaas
PS. As to address the "why don't you just use gmail?" question - I have a Blackberry, and Gmail's system of keeping a string of emails in one heading meant that I received an email from myself every time I sent an email - that got pretty tiresome.

You can turn this on the the "Composing" preferences of the .Mac e-mail web-interface.

I think Apple kind of expects people to use Mail for .Mac instead of the online interface. The online interface is outdated but it definitely works for when you're on the go.
I use neither... Gmail and the rest of Google's online apps (Calendar, Homepage, Spreadsheet) work too well.

It totally sucks. I cancelled it because the online mail didn't even have spam filters.

YOu don't have to use the web interface, you can use .Mac with any stand-alone email client: OS X Mail, Thunderbird, Entourage, etc.
If you are looking for the most feature-rich email solution, I'd setup Thunderbird to access your .Mac mail. If you are looking for simplicity, I'd go with OS X Mail.
.Mac is quite over-priced for what is offered though. There is very little which warrants the price.
