straight from Microsoft
"This update fixes vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code. This update also fixes issues in Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac and includes all of the improvements released in all previous Office 2004 updates."

I don't see any reference to UB so I woul say no.

Plus here's MS' FAQ

It's a security update. That's not going to update the app to a Universal Binary.

Unfortunately, the Microsoft Office applications are - even in 2006 - CFM apps. That means that they'll need to be converted to Mach-O in order to be made UB. It also means that the current versions were probably built using CodeWarrior, so that'll all have to move over to Xcode as well. It'll be a big job to make those apps universal, and I guarantee MS will charge you for it.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

There's a security update to v.X as well.

Anyone else having problems with PowerPoint on an Intel Mac after this update? Word and Excel work just fine, but PowerPoint crashes immediately after the splash screen. I have tried trashing its preference files without success. The Console shows:

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000

Thread 0 Crashed:

6 LaunchCFMApp 0xb80e3f07 spin_lock_wrapper + 2511

UPDATE:
After I posted, Word started crashing also. At this point I figured that Rosetta had become hosed somehow and rebooted. After the reboot, both Word and PowerPoint appear to be working normally.
