I think i am having a problem with the root system? I am a newbie with a mini 4g several different problems but i am hoping this will help it. I did run the permissions but it did not change any thing. I believe i found the home library for iphoto but still have not be able to import. My mac is telling me i do not have enough memory. I tried to insert a pic of my screen so you could see it , but it would not allow me so i will try to explain what is going on. It appears that user (root) all are using a lot of memory 616.00 KB (memberd root ) ( disnoted root ) real memory 888.00 KB
page in /out 25958/1427 for memberd not sure what all this means but i appreciate all your help in advance newbimini Lee

We take a deep breath and then try to sort this out.

1.) By default the root user is not enabled. That's how you should keep it. No problem here if it is like that.
2.) There are some processes running as root. This is quite normal.
3.) You have found your iPhoto Library? What is the path to the library? What is your home folder name? What is your short user name (as seen in System Preferences->Accounts)?
4.) How exactly did you try to import your iPhoto library? Describe the exact steps you have taken?
5.) Your Mac tells you you don't have enough memory when you are doing what exactly?
6.) 616 KB and 888 KB is by no means "a lot of memory". It is negligible for any kind of process - root or not.
7.) Membered root? Disnoted root? Where are you reading this off? I assume you are in Activity Monitor. Where exactly are you seeing those?
8.) Page in/out are cumulative over the time your computer is running. So the number is larger the longer you have not rebootet. To know whether you have to little memory you'll have to observe whether the number increases regularly during normal operation of your computer.
9.) memerd root in/out? Never heard of that. Where are exactly you reading these numbers?

Thank you Tetenal for your time and patience. #7 yes the activity monitor high lighting the ( memberd ) is the process name then i select the mark for inspect #8 i shut down almost every night
#9 i was wrong it is messages in\out or system calls getting these # from high lighting the inspect
under statistics
#5 that just started when i had trouble with iphoto. I tried to down load some thing and it said that. I do very little on my mac and the problems i am having just started. My systems memory is constantly changing regardless of what i am doing or doing nothing. It has already went down to 9.10 MB. #4 Spot light showed me( library iphoto ) says its in the computer but i used camera salvage to recover the photos and i guess they did because i think they have a lock on it until i pay, if i do. #3 My picture folder is gone no longer on the side with home \ mac\ desktop and so on.Not sure what happened. # 4 I tried to import from where spot light showed me i could see my pics but that was all My home folder name is lorrainefuller the same for my short user name my son set my mac up for me and had it set up with his wireless and i was on hie network before he moved into his place, but now its just me and the only wireless is my key board and mouse. I hope i was able to answer you correctly so that you will be able to figure out what`s going on. If a program was able to find my pics , spot light says my pics are in my home folder but if i try to open it brings up a folder that has DS store. Thank you again

Hi Tetenal I was looking through some things and the DS store can not be from the camera salvage program because the date on it is March and this happened in July ?????? Not sure what has happened but it is what keeps me from getting my photos
