Hey, is there anyone out there that could recommend a good, univeral, and preferably freeware/shareway HTML editor to me? I'm currently using DreamWeaver on Windows, but when I switch to Mac, I'm definitely not buying it until it's Universal... soooo, any advice? .

Smultron is free, TextMate is good (but 40€).

If you want something WYSIWYG then try nvu.
For general text editing purposes (including HTML/PHP/CSS) I use and highly recommend SubEthaEdit, but it's not free.

I'd go with TextMate or SubEthaEdit (especially for collaborative coding). You can find them and many more on macupdate.com.

I use vim, comes with the system so is universal... but it's not a GUI editor, run it from the Terminal.

Well, I had thought a lot about Nvu because it was "comparable to DreamWeaver" but it's not universal is it???
I really like the look of it but I don't wanna run it in Rosetta!!
And, WJMoore, I like GUI .

Textmate beats Dreamweaver hands down if you use the code view on DW.
There isn't really anything on the market that does design view as good as Dreamweaver because few people make web pages like that these days.

Yeah, for pro-level design, most people code by hand (since PHP and all that is essential nowadays). For the level at which WYSIWYG makes sense, I guess iWeb has that cornered.

What about Freeway? Both Express and Pro appear to be UB now. It's not freeware or shareware though. Probably best to go with one of the smaller cheaper non-WYSIWYG editors.
