Best Recording Program?

Being a new Mac user, I am in need of a good recording program. Adobe Audition (cool edit pro) is what I'm used to. I need to be able to see the amplitude in more detal than that of garageband while it's recording. I only record one track at a time if that matters at all.


What is there out there for professional audio recording?

I was also looking for a good sound editing/recording program. There is a free app called Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net) and it seems to do the trick. Though probably not as capable as Audition or SoundForge.
