Hi,

Does anyone here use Speed Download on an Intel Mac?

I have been searching for a nice download manager. I tried iGetter, and now Speed Downloader. I am queuing a load of files, and downloading 10 at once, but both programs seemed to tax my system when doing so. Act Monitor wasnt showing high CPU or Mem usage, or even Disk Usage, but the computer kept stalling giving me the spinng coloured disc, for about 5 seconds then would carry on.

Anyone else have this issue? My Windows box with Getright installed can download 10 things at once with no performance impact.

The spinning pizza of death doesn't mean that the system is hanging. It means that the program the cursor is hovering over is not responding. You probably could have switched to another program and continue work normally while Speed Download is hanging.

And if Speed Download is haning, just don't use it. Seems like an obvious fix to me.

It hangs the whole system.

And just dont use it? Wow, thats a good support answer on a support forum. Im gonna ring my ISP support and tell them that the next few callers who say their connection wont work, just tell them "if its not working, just dont use it".
