is it me or does safari seem to choke on CSS based layout pages?

for example, macnn itself is css layout based and it seems to take forever to load and chokes. I've noticed this with any site that features a css based layout. Which is kind of odd because they should be a lot faster than tables...

Looking at the HTML, I'd say MacNN's layout is primarily table-based.

And no, I haven't noticed such a thing.

There is an inline stylesheet. The colour of the message areas is set by it.

CSS works great in Safari. It's probably that those same pages are using other things more complicated that Safari can't handle as well.

Try JavaScript instead of CSS based in that question.

Yeah Safari works great with CSS designs but usually choke on simple fixed background image like in my site. Choppy scrolling but all other browsers scroll just fine >.<

Safari has a few CSS bugs, but fewer than any other browser (that includes Firefox and Opera). IE doesn't even get honourable mention.
