For relatively basic tracking, Watson with its Stock Tracker plug-in actually does a great job. There's definitely not an abundance of such apps on OSX

i find it hard to believe that Apple doesn't have many great stock tracking software applications. I just found BlueChip onine, but i think there must be something better.

Blue Chip turned out to be less than great.

Just found another program called iStock. It's comparible to BlueChip and still, there must be something that's better.

Honestly, I find google finance to be the easiest thing to use. It has a portfolio that tracks your stocks — you can enter multiple buy-in's for the same stock and track stocks that you haven't purchased it. Plus you get all the news and blog posts that correspond to stock's daily performance. I have tried both of the programs mentioned above and they are both pretty lame once you start to actually use them.

I was really looking for an Application (not a website product). Wanted something super secure, that nobody can log into.

Trying to find a stock market application has really frustrated me. I'm often debating the merits of Apple being better than a PC. And people say that software doesn't exist for the Apple (and i think it does). But this is the first time in a long time that i'm trying to find a 'common' application and i can't find a quality program for the Apple.

If i was a business finanance person, i woulnd't want to be on the Apple platform. I hope someone can prove me wrong, but no responses means nothing exists.

Why, if I may ask? Unless you need more than just tracking, these apps should do the job just fine, and Google is password protected. I guess one could set up an Excel sheet to do the job too, which would pull the data from something like Yahoo.

if i'm signed in to google and i leave me computer, someone can just click the link on the website and see my personal stocks.

if it's an application, nobody will know it exists on my HD and nobody will have access to it other than me.

Not to be nit-picky but if you leave your computer then someone could just open your stock application too. It's not hidden or secure if it's an app on your machine - not to mention the "Recent Items" in your apple menu. You can log-out of your google account at any time as well. Anyways I was just offering a suggestion - since I had tried all the shareware apps and found them insufficient.

Hope your search goes well.

The fact still remains that there is no decent application for stock market tracking and that's kinda sad.

If you have a brokerage account with Scottrade, you have access to their piss poor Java streamer. It does allow you to track stocks, but the quotes are delayed at least a few minutes so it's not a good choice for traders. Some people have been able to get Charles' Schwab Active Trading Java applet to work on the Mac, but others around here have not. There are at least a couple of professional looking stock tracking/analysis packages available for the Mac, but I need brokerage integration. I am with Fidelity and am very happy with their software, but unfortunately, they do not provide a Mac version of their app - that's just life.

Greetings guys, we're Eyenovation (the company that makes and develops BlueChip.)
http://www.bluechipx.com/

Like you - we're also avid traders and have found ourselves in the same situation you're presently in. (What program does one use on a Mac to track stock trades in OS X). With that in mind, we sought to create a simple application that addressed just such a need. Mostly we included what novice guys like us would need in an application of this sort.

Blue Chip turned out to be less than great.
It would appear some of the consensus here is that we've fallen short and that is valuable feedback to us. We cordially invite you to submit your suggestions at our forum, we do read and take them seriously. Obviously everyone trades differently, some short, some long, some intraday, etc. While we can't please everyone or facilitate every request, we're always interested in making the application better.

Thanks!
Chris Ortenburger
