iTunes Skips While Working on Low Apps on MBP??

I have an MBP pretty well loaded up that skips on Apple Lossless Files when the CPU is low in use and I'm working in non-intensive apps. Are others getting this? Certainly a new MBP with 2GB RAM shouldn't have such problems.
