(I have searched and saw some similar questions with no responses, but I will give it a shot anyway.) Is there any way within iWeb to include an external graphic? By that, I mean that I have a URL for an external graphic that I would like to be displayed inline. Said graphic is dynamic and therefore simply copying it isn't of much help. Nor is it desirable to merely include the link.

I am pretty sure that iWeb doesn't support this, but thought I would check and see if anyone found a way. (I know that I could edit the HTML on the site, but then I would have to do that everytime I updated the site, which I don't find appealing.)

Thanks in advance for any help!

I think they block this feature to prevent someone from using copywritten material. If you can put the .html file into an .html editor and know how to code you can do it that way I would think. Let me know what happens

Thanks for the response, but editing the HTML is what I am trying to avoid. I am confident that if I modify the HTML in the appropriate iDisk folder that it will work. However, that means that I would have to do it every time I make a change to the web page, and I don't want to do that. What I am trying to find out is if there is any native way within iWeb to do it.

I think iWeb is meant more for the average Joe user that just wants to create a page for his podcasts or photos or music or whatever. Sure you can edit the html if you'd like to, but that takes from the beauty and elegance of creating web sites with iWeb. If you learn how to use Dreamweaver, that might be better for you (even though it runs a little slow on OS X). I use Dreamweaver when I need to get a basic layout of a site done, and then I go in with TextWrangler to put in all the functionality. Works pretty well, considering Dreamweaver is really a dog on my 1.2ghz G4.

That said, I'm thinking DashCode will be what you're looking for, but that's not out until Leopard. DashCode looks to me like a simplified version of Dreamweaver with a focus on creating Dashboard widgets, and I'll probably buy Leopard just for that. I hope my iBook can handle Leopard.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I agree that iWeb is for Joe Average. I am not trying to do anything sophisticated here, though. If it helps any, Last FM offers the ability to show the last songs you listened to, by way of a graphic that you can simply include in your own page. This is much the same thing as the page counter in iWeb, only the graphic is hosted somewhere else (last FM). What made me think to do this is the fact that the Blog template in iWeb actually has a place for a "playlist". I just want to stick this reference in that spot instead of having to manually update it (which I won't do).

Again, thanks for the recommendation regarding Dreamweaver, but I do know how to manually edit the HTML in a text editor (I don't claim to be a web guru, but I have managed my company's web site for 8+ years and have done that almost exclusively through raw HTML). Again, I am not trying to update the HTML behind iWeb, I just want to be able to include a graphic that is linked to an external site. I like iWeb and the templates and am not looking to change.

As I expected, it doesn't sound like this is supported. Thanks to those who responded, and I will continue to monitor in case someone knows a way to get iWeb to do this.
