I have a 12 inch powerbook which I use extensively. At home I hook it up to a 20 inch wide screen monitor through a docking station.
When I am on the road I, obviously, do not have that option. What ends up happening is some of my applications are "off the screen" when I am just using my powerbook screen. Some of the apps are easily fixed, but things like adium and other small apps I cannot get to.
Is there any utility that will scale it down or virtual desktop software that can help with this?
Thanks In Advance.

Try clicking the green button at the top left of the window for each app.

Thanks, but that will only work for applications that I can see on my screen. What happens is I move a program to the far right hand side of my wide screen monitor. When using my powerbook without a monitor, the application still thinks the second monitor is connected and not on my screen at all but is running.

If I recall correctly, if you change the resolution of the screen (via the Displays preference pane) to something else, and then back to the default resolution, the windows 'sense' this and resize themselves so that you can see them. If this does work, make sure that you put the Displays icon in your menu bar to make this easier next time.
Hope I'm right.

I would try the Detect Displays button first, myself.

Or the Gather Windows button, directly under it, in the Displays prefpane.

Hmm, that button must only reveal itself if you are running more than one display. Good to know, though.
