Just got back to school and wanted to start taking advantage of the connection. Just a few issues of concern...I heard that Limewire can "mess up" your disk permission, is this true. Also was wondering what apps. are out there that any of you reccomend?
Thanks

yea i heard that about limewire too, and ive even read somewhere that it caused peoples's computers to crash, so i used to use acquisition. its a nice app, updated frequently, but, for me at least, has trouble connecting and is slow. i finally got frustrated enough to download limewire and i have not had a problem since. ive probably have been using it for about 4 months or so with no problems. the only thing that i dont like is it has a lot of threads when it is running and takes up a lot of system resources. But if your connection is quick, you can get what you need and close it quick enough.

Keep in mind that many schools either block or throttle p2p connections.

I've neither heard nor seen any such thing. (With regards to the original post, that is — I've definitely seen P2P blocking!)
