Hey ya'll just got myself a Macbook and I like to listen to a lot of music, browse the internet, use word proccessor, and I love Adium. What is the best way to keep my macbook safe and fast. I currently use ClamXav as anti-virus but will be getting McAfee soon and I have Ysauo to delete cookies and such on internet. Is there any built in program that help or can I download some more for free. I would appreciate any response.

You don't have to do anything particular. The Mac is self-maintainning.

McAfee might be a waste of money. ClamXav is considered kind of good enough.

As has been said, OS X is self-sustaining. It used to not be quite so intelligent, which is why we needed things like MacJanitor, but that's in the past. You may want to have Disk Warrior in case of catastrophic disk catalog damage, but that's about it.

???

DW works, when it's needed. it's saved a drive for me a couple of times, and for others as well.
research it a bit, you'll see it can be a true lifesaver...

It's well worth the price. No Intel Mac version as yet though.

Personally I would rather invest my money in a backup drive than in Disk Warrior. In all my time with Mac OS X I have never had any problems with file system corruption. And if I have them, I can still get Disk Warrior when I need it.

Yes Disk Warrior is not a rip. It's well worth restoring an HD.

i got it when my audio drive refused to mount; i tried everything.
got in a cab, bought the last cd of DW (at j&r).

ran it, repaired the drive, went back to work.

have since repaired another drive, and have friends with same experience.

worth having handy...

No, its not. From all I know it is an excellent utility to have around and can be a real lifesaver.
